Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
You don’t need a referral to book an appointment at Snyder Psychology. Simply reach out through our online contact form or call our office directly to begin your journey. Our Calgary psychologists and therapists are here to support you without any barriers to getting started.
How does the counselling process work?
The counselling process at Snyder Psychology is designed to be straightforward and supportive. When you first connect with us, we’ll have a conversation to understand what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. From there, we’ll match you with one of our experienced Calgary therapists who specializes in your specific needs. Your first session is a chance to share your story in a safe space, explore what matters most to you, and collaborate on a personalized treatment plan. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and focus on building practical skills, processing emotions, and moving toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you.
How long will I need therapy?
How long you’ll need therapy varies based on your unique situation and goals. Many clients begin noticing positive shifts within the first few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Our Calgary counselling approach is goal-focused, which means we’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed. We’re committed to supporting you for as long as you’re benefiting from therapy, without keeping you longer than necessary.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy requires 24 hours notice before your scheduled session. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you’ll be charged for that session. We understand life happens, so please reach out to our office as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
Is counselling confidential?
Counselling at Snyder Psychology is completely confidential. Everything you share in therapy stays between you and your psychologist, protected under professional ethics and Alberta’s privacy legislation. We will never release any information to third parties without your explicit written consent. The only exceptions are situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, which we would discuss with you directly. Your trust and privacy are foundational to the therapeutic relationship.
