McKenzie is a Clinical Director, University Professor, and a Registered Clinical, Counselling, Health, and Rehabilitation Psychologist in Alberta. He is currently pursuing advanced training to complete his Doctor of Psychology degree. McKenzie holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, along with a post-graduate residency in Clinical and Counselling Psychology.
With both national and international experience, McKenzie has worked across various settings, including residential, inpatient, outpatient, community, and private practices. He provides individual, couples, family, and group services to diverse populations across all age groups. As a faculty member at City University of Seattle’s Master of Counselling Program, he imparts his extensive knowledge by instructing a number of courses as well as supervising Practicum students and pre-registration clinicians.
McKenzie has extensive expertise in treating a wide range of psychosocial challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. His residency focused on supporting both perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, individuals in recovery from substance use, and those experiencing personality disorder symptoms. McKenzie has also worked with clients affected by motor vehicle accidents, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and various forms of trauma.
Through advanced clinical training, McKenzie has attained expertise in several therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). His approach is collaborative and structured, incorporating interventions from these modalities, along with the integration of mindfulness and somatic-based practices.
